Student of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University and a Cross-Faculty Team Win a Bronze Medal at the 2026 International Youth Summit

Malaysia, Saturday, May 30, 2026 — Four students from Diponegoro University representing the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) and the Faculty of Medicine (FK) achieved a proud international milestone by winning a Bronze Medal at the International Youth Summit 2026. The Sentosa Foundation organized the competition in collaboration with the Centre of Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Marketability (CEM) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). It took place at the Asto Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In the competition, the student team focused on the theme of “Environment” with an innovative project titled “Community Empowerment on Post-Disaster Restoration through Planetary Health Approach: Study on Indonesian Local Wisdom Application.” This innovation proposes a community empowerment approach to post-disaster recovery by integrating the concept of “planetary health” a framework that views human health, environmental preservation, and the Earth’s sustainability as interconnected elements.

By applying Indonesian local wisdom, the team developed various sustainability-oriented, innovative ideas for post-disaster rehabilitation. Proposed solutions include utilizing renewable energy via solar panels, developing electric ambulance ships to improve healthcare access in affected areas, implementing green economy principles, and launching community empowerment programs focused on environmental conservation and sustainable development.

This approach aims to foster a disaster recovery system that is more resilient, self-reliant, and environmentally conscious. Furthermore, the innovation seeks to raise public awareness regarding the importance of maintaining ecosystem balance as part of achieving sustainable global health.

Winning the Bronze Medal demonstrates that the innovation developed by Universitas Diponegoro students is competitive and recognized internationally. This achievement also reflects the students’ commitment to providing innovative solutions to environmental, health, and disaster-related challenges through approaches that are sustainable and impactful for the community.
